The a7C was designed to be compact, lightweight and portable without compromising full-frame performance. This goal was achieved through new mechanical components, such as a space-saving shutter and optical stabilizer unit, layout and structural improvements.

The 24.2 MP Exmor R™ CMOS sensor and Sony's BIONZ X™ image processor deliver outstanding color reproduction, 15 stops of dynamic range, and capture detail and smooth transitions in all lighting conditions in photos and videos.

The A7C incorporates the same AF optimizations as the acclaimed α9. In addition to 4D FOCUS for fast subject acquisition and stable tracking over a wide area, 693 AF phase detection points cover approximately 93 % of the image area.
To better capture subjects in motion, the α7C offers continuous shooting at up to 10 bps with AF/AE tracking and up to 8 bps in Live View mode. It also supports silent shooting at up to 10 BpS with AF/AE tracking.
For portraits, reliable subject tracking matters. As with previous models, you simply need to half-press the shutter button once you've pointed the camera at your subject to start AF with real-time eye detection. On the A7C, real-time tracking can be used without AF-C mode via the AF-ON button, so you can get started right away. The a7C's 5-axis optical image stabilization compensates for five types of camera shake without loss in image quality, even without a camera mount or in the dark: [1, 2] angular shake (pitch and yaw) that often occurs with telephoto lenses, [3, 4] shift shake (X and Y axes) that is noticeable with increasing magnification, and [5] rotational shake (roll on Z axis) in night shooting and video.
The α7C's side-folding LCD with adjustable angle is always easy to view, even when, for example, a microphone is attached, a gimbal is used, or shots are taken from different positions. In addition, you can use your favorite accessories via the headphone and microphone ports. In addition, the large-capacity battery allows you to shoot for longer periods of time. All this makes the α7C the perfect camera for vloggers and other content creators.
The side-folding LC display allows for flexible vlogging, and a combination of optional grip and microphone for cordless recording. Extra-clear sound is provided by support for digital microphones.
