The perfect eye view

As the first D-SLR camera, the D6 allows you to focus on the eyes of the person being photographed when using automatic metering or 3D tracking. Combined with wider, detailed coverage, you'll capture the perfect moment in your subject's facial expressions.

Anticipate what's happening

With the D6, you can specify the first focus point when shooting with Auto Point Control. Using information from all 105 focus points, the subject you're shooting is captured and tracked, so you can focus on composing the frame.

Get great shots in any light

Rely on incredibly precise tracking even in the most challenging lighting conditions. With AF sensitivity of 4.5 EV for the center focus point and ?4 EV for all other points, you'll capture the action even at night.

The scene is fast-paced. You only have one chance to get your shot. The D6 allows shooting bursts of up to 14 fps with full autofocus tracking and with auto exposure adjustments. The camera's redesigned mirror mechanism reduces shake and provides a sharper, smoother viewfinder image.

When you're in the field, it's critical that your image files are of the right quality. And that's straight out of the camera. The D6 delivers exceptionally brilliant images. Thanks to the new Auto White Balance algorithm, you get unsurpassed color fidelity and more natural skin tones. The dynamic range is outstanding at both high and low ISO values. Whether it's a stadium or a ski slope: Your images are medal-worthy.

Real-time viewfinder images

Follow the action in real time, even when shooting with a telephoto lens and high frame rates. The optical viewfinder with 0.72x magnification and OLED elements provides an extremely sharp viewfinder image in real time. This allows you to focus on your subject without compromise.

Artificial horizon indicators (tilt and roll) can also be displayed in the viewfinder.

Recall settings

When you can quickly and easily adjust to a wide variety of situations, you'll be prepared for the unpredictable. Programmed settings have now been expanded to include white balance, AF point pattern, and AF lock-on.

Versatile card slots

Save your images simultaneously in different quality options on two memory cards (CFexpress or XQD) with the "JPEG+JPEG" option. Easily save JPEG files of small or medium size to the card in the secondary compartment, speeding up image transfer.

Fast data transfer, custom-fit workflows

Because our customers have requested this feature, the D6's image transfer has been accelerated and simplified. Built-in fast Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities let you send your best shots. Without delay. The sharp and accurate touchscreen monitor lets you review, select, and rate your shots. The D6 offers the industry's fastest transfer speed ? which doesn't slow down even while you're shooting.

When seconds are at a premium, you'll appreciate the advanced options for selecting which images to transfer. The primary card slot lets you check focus in the larger JPEG+ image, then switch to the secondary card slot for transferring smaller or medium JPEGs. Unused images can be deleted from both cards simultaneously.

Copyright and rating information, as well as voice memos, can be saved and then applied to images by simply swiping on or off. When sorting your images, you can delete images along with assigned voice memos, or just the voice memos. During playback, you can filter files by protection, rating, and transfer status.

Put your best shots at the top of the queue, then transfer your images to your computer via wired LAN or the camera's built-in Wi-Fi. Sort your images during playback using the swipe function or a function button.

BLUETOOTH

Upload images directly from the shooting location to social networks. Using a Bluetooth connection, the camera can transfer images to a smart device with the SnapBridge app installed. The smart device can even be used as a simple remote shutter release.

WI-FI

Connect to a computer using the camera's built-in Wi-Fi function. You can also connect to a wireless LAN using the WT-6 wireless LAN adapter with a range of up to 200m. The WT-6 supports wireless LAN IEEE802.11ac and can be used as a wireless receiver in HTTP mode.

INDUSTRY-LEADING SPEED

Transfer images directly from the camera to a PC or FTP server via network cable at the highest speed. The camera's wired LAN function supports the 1000BASE-T standard and can increase transmission speed by about 15% compared to the proven D5.

Higher resolution displays provide better visibility and readability. Optimized ergonomic details enable a more compact format. Frequently used ports are always easily accessible, even when working with a wireless LAN adapter.
