The Image Stabilizer provides up to  four stops longer exposure times, effectively compensating for camera shake. Nikon's exclusive Silent Wave Motor (SWM) enables even faster autofocus operation. In addition to the more rugged construction, a fluorine coating on the front and rear lenses effectively repels water, dust and dirt.
