The atmosphere of each subject scene is reproduced realistically and with an almost three-dimensional feel. Combined with the GF1.4X TC WR teleconverter, this results in a focal length of about 277mm (equivalent to 35mm format) without any restrictions on image quality. 

The lens also features the new Focus Preset function, which allows photographers to recall previously stored focus settings at the touch of a button. The weatherproof body is sealed against splashing water and dust, reliable in professional use, even in adverse weather conditions such as temperatures as low as -10°.

Highest image quality

The optical design features 16 elements in 10 groups, including one Super ED and two ED lenses that reduce chromatic aberration and provide the lens' excellent imaging performance. The Super ED lens minimizes distracting color fringing across the entire focus range. The closest focusing distance of the GF250mmF4 is 1.4m, which is equivalent to 0.22x magnification and allows tele-macro shooting with great bokeh effect.

Five-stage image stabilization

The lens is equipped with a powerful image stabilization system that allows up to 5 EV stops longer exposure time according to CIPA guidelines. This allows photographers to take advantage of the GFX sensor's maximum sharpness performance even when shooting freehand telephoto, which is particularly prone to blur in medium format.

Other functions

Among the lens' newly developed features is a focus limiter that reduces the active focus area to the relevant range, allowing for faster focusing. In addition, certain distance settings can be stored (focus preset) and directly controlled via the focus buttons on the front of the lens if required. The focus lock function (AF lock) and autofocus settings can also be accessed via these buttons.

Quiet high-speed autofocus

The autofocus is driven by a quiet, high precision, high speed linear motor. In addition, the lens has a mechanism to lock the current focus position when the user turns the camera off or switches to playback mode.

Rugged and weatherproof

The lens barrel is made of a lightweight and rugged aluminum alloy. The housing has been sealed at 18 points to prevent dust and splash water from entering. Furthermore, the lens can be used at low temperatures down to -10°. The fluorine coating of the front lens repels water and dirt and thus contributes to the special outdoor suitability of the lens.
