The Alpha lighting system was developed in parallel with the Alpha cameras, for optimal lighting in countless application examples. A level of integration only achievable with Sony's original products provides detailed communication with compatible cameras for reliable and precise lighting control.
Stable GN46 performance for a wide range of requirements
The Sony-designed HVL-F46RM can communicate with Alpha cameras to ensure consistent GN46 lighting performance for professional requirements. Focal lengths from 24 mm (15 mm with wide-angle diffuser lens) to 105 mm are supported.
Flash control coupled to face detection
Automatic white balancing with a compatible camera ensures that faces are reproduced in natural colors. With face detection of compatible cameras, the HVL-F46RM ensures ideal lighting of the main subject - even in groups.
Automatic white balance with the precision of original equipment
This internally developed advanced flash unit transmits color temperature information to the camera. The camera processes the data and precisely adjusts the white balance. This ensures that colors are reproduced naturally in every situation.
Light output optimized for focal length and image size
The flash's angle of illumination is automatically adjusted over a range of 24-105 mm, depending on the focal length of the lens. It also adjusts the light distribution for optimal illumination in full-frame or APS-C.
Fast flash burst and solid high-speed continuous flash
Advanced electronics and construction contribute to shorter flash firing times and enable longer continuous shooting with flash. Four batteries provide power for more than 320 flashes with a flash recycle time of 2.0 seconds.
Innovative overheat protection for longer shoots
Heat-resistant materials and an optimized flash algorithm provide greater resistance to overheating. This allows for longer continuous shooting. The HVL-46RM uses the same algorithms as the top-of-the-line HVL-F60RM2 and offers approximately 1.7 times the overheating resistance of the HVL-F45RM for uninterrupted photo sessions.
Stable high-speed continuous shooting with flash
With a compatible camera, the HVL-F46RM can consistently fire the flash up to 60 times for high-speed continuous shooting at up to 10 frames/second. No more missed frames due to flash sync errors for stable continuous shooting.
Minimal flash firing delay
When using the HVL-F46RM with a compatible camera, the delay between pressing the shutter button and flash output is noticeably reduced. This allows you to capture fleeting moments with ease.
